What We Don't Do



Ever hear of Sneferu? No? He was the guy that built the three Pyramids of Giza. The first one, known as the Medium Pyramid, had a core that looked like a fat obalisk and had an outer sheath that completed its shape. It was never finished and eventually collapsed. His second pyramid (the Bent Pyramid) is called that because it has a “bend” where the angle changes about half-way up. It was never actually finished either.

Finally, Sneferu got it right on the third pyramid at Giza by using the same angle as the upper half of the bent pyramid. By all measures, a singular feat of engineering. But look closer and you'll see that finally after three tries, thirty or so years of trial and error, and undoubtedly thousands of lives spent in the effort, he finally had something he could show the Pharoah.



In many ways, the evolution of Enterprise Analytics is kinda like that. You had Massive Parallel processing, then you had Hadoop, then you have... Apilation. Our technology combines the power of MPP with the low cost generic hardware of Hadoop and further adds the disruptive dynamic schema capabilities of NoQSL, the on-demand scalable nature of Cloud, and the increasingly more intelligent capabilities of Machine Learning to define an entirely new generation of Analytics capability. While what we do is amazing in comparison to earlier attempts, what we're able to not do is equally important.

Not Build a "Stack"

Unlike almost every other “Analytics” companies, we provide the entire end-to-end process within a single platform. From ingestion to analytics to next-best action, every part of the process is driven through our NoSQL data warehouse in a native columnar JSON format – a first in the industry. Our single platform technology provides ultra-high performance and eliminates cross-application latency - resulting in the most efficient way to do advanced analytics there is.

Not Need a Lake

Although we support the concepts of lakes, we believe that large data lakes are a soon-to-be relic of a relational database legacy. In reality, they never really worked well in the first place. Too much complex schema maintenance and synchronization required. Instead, we believe that the Analytics applications of the future will take full advantage of NoSQL’s dynamic “Schema-on-Query” capability and do exactly that – extract just the data needed for that specific query (or API) directly from the source data repositories, organize, run, and visualize it real-time - at the time of query. This concept is core to Apilation’s Small Data methodology. Perhaps, we’re crazy or perhaps we are just way ahead of our legacy competitors.

Not Take Years

Because we don’t have to build a stack and/or fill a lake our native NoSQL columnar JSON architecture is simply faster. And that’s just the beginning. Truth be told, the current state of Enterprise Analytics is such that the Data Preparation/Management (Ingestion) tasks take up probably 70% of the cost and effort, the actual Analytics take about 20%, and the Visualization takes the last 10% (more or less).

By eliminating almost all of the complexity in the Ingestion process, reusing many of the same models and visualizations across multiple customers (who doesn’t need Customer 360?) and having the platform already running and waiting for you in the cloud, we can deliver immediate value in the form of measurable results extremely quickly – normally under 30 days.

Not Cost Millions Up-front

We don’t sell you technology. We sell you insights and the ability to act upon them. Yes, we have great technology that enables us to do that, but it’s not for sale – or rent. Our value-first methodologies ensure that you know exactly where the money’s coming from. If we don’t pay for ourselves we don’t expect you to do business with us. If by some chance you do pay us millions over time (that would be nice), it’s because we have produced many times that in measurable business value.
